My favorite second hand finds
Do you love to shop second hand? Well we do, it is definitely the most environmentally-conscious option and on top of that, it can be so much fun!
Fast fashion is one of the most polluting industries, the mass production of clothing uses a lot of natural resources as well as strong chemicals that pollute our water and in order for the items to be so cheap big brand names exploit people from third world countries, paying very low wagers in very bad working conditions.
So for us, buying second hand is the obvious thing to do in order not to support the fast fashion industry.
Most of my favorite clothing items have been previously owned and worn. And I love the fact that you can’t find them in regular shops anymore!
I bought a hand made woven Ralph Lauren sweater with a very pretty ethnic-inspired pattern from the Salvation Army in Santa Monica, California.
I found a great winter coat at the flea market in Mauerpark in Berlin, Germany.
I got some really nice good quality blouses for my office job at Crossroads Trading in San Francisco, California.
My favorite oversized sweater that I wear all the time and even brought with me to Bali, is a white Gap sweater that I also found at Crossroads.
And my absolute favorite clothing item is a hand me down black suede jacket from the 70’s with fringe on the sleeves that I got from a friend of my mother’s.
What about you? Do you have any favorite second-hand finds?
