How to create awareness without spending a dime
We get it. You are on holidays and although you are aware of all the trash around you, the dirty beaches, the plastic in the ocean etc. it seems like there’s not much you can do since you are only visiting for a few days.
You aren’t going to be in that same spot long enough and even if you were, let’s face it. You are on holidays and want to relax, not worry about how bad the issue is all over the world…and we understand. But guess what, there are a few things you can do to help the problem without interrupting your holidays that would be a lot more helpful than you think!
- Share the issue on social. Easy right? Surely, you are already sharing videos and photos of your holidays and how much fun you are having, right? Don’t only show the pretty things. It’s important to create awareness of reality.
- Have you heard of Adventure bag? Adventure bag is a movement started by the Australian blogger Jackson Groves to create awareness and start acting upon the problem. He started by collecting a bag of trash in every adventure he went on and posting it on social. The movement went viral and Adventure Bag Crew is now all over the world. Are you going on a hike while on holidays? Collect your adventure bag and post it on social!
- Be aware of what you buy. Are you buying some fruit or snacks for your day trip? Think before getting the plastic packaged snacks. Get some fruit from a local market, you’ll avoid packaging and help local businesses.
- Take a break from takeaways. After all, you are on holidays to relax, aren’t you? Stop rushing, sit down and have your coffee. Take some time for yourself and avoid the plastic packaging.
