Is corporate responsibility enough?

Hey, how was your week?
Today we wanted to talk to you about something a bit more serious than usual and maybe a bit controversial. Did you know that Coca – Cola is considered one of the top corporate responsibility enforcing companies?
It’s a bit surprising to us, especially given their public statement a couple of weeks ago where they said that “as long as customers keep buying plastic bottles, they will continue to produce them”.
So, why are they an environmentally responsible company? Well, in order for a company to be considered so, they need to make improvements around the following areas:
- Reducing carbon footprints.
- Improving labor policies.
- Participating in fairtrade.
- Charitable giving.
- Volunteering in the community.
- Corporate policies that benefit the environment.
- Socially and environmentally conscious investments.
In this particular case, we are talking about the fact that Coca – Cola created more efficient delivery routes that reduced their gas emissions considerably. While this is a great measure as well as all the areas taken into account above, it is our personal opinion that a holistic approach should be taken in order to label a company as socially and environmentally responsible.
Seems a bit odd that a company that is one of the biggest plastic producers in the industry could be called eco-friendly…What are your thoughts on this? Drop us an email and let us know what you think!
