One of the things we had very clear from the beginning is that we did not want to focus our energy only on being sustainable, but we also wanted to be ethical. For us, it is not only about the materials we source and respecting the environment, we also want to give back to the local community, make sure the workers that manufacture our items do it under good working conditions, supporting traditional handcrafts men and family owned businesses.
When we decided to source our products from Indonesia, one of the things we liked was the small scale production. The fact that we could see the people behind our items and the pride that they put into continuing their family tradition.
With time we have learned that different regions specialize in different materials and techniques. Coconut items are sourced from Java, bamboo manufacturers are found near Ubud and the best rattan makers are in Lombok.
More about the people behind the scenes coming soon!
