When we started Be ALAM, one of the things we always knew was that we wanted to give back to the community. There are, of course, several ways to do so, but today we are coming to tell you a story we came across not long ago, and knew immediately we had to be part of.
In 2006, in an effort to provide a more sustainable and brighter future for the Muntigunung community, Future for Children – a Swiss backed NGO - initiated the Muntigunung Development and Livelihoods program and successfully constructed 20 buildings to harvest and store rainwater in specially designed tanks to provide a year-round water supply, securing clean & sustainable water to every household, every day. Muntigunung is a village located in the north of Bali, that not many tourists get to.
Today, these buildings also provide a place for the community to manufacture their rosella, cashew nuts, palm sugar as well as their hammocks, bags and accessories. This initiative does not only intend to provide an income but also support for healthcare and education for the people of Muntigunung.
At Be ALAM, we’ve decided to feature part of their hammock collection and help support the cause.
